What is Spelt?

What is spelt? Spelt is an ancient grain, related to wheat, but unchanged for millenia. It has a softer texture, less gluten, and is easier to digest than wheat. Some people who cannot eat wheat, can eat spelt.

Spelt is known for its higher nutritional value. That is partly due to its high protein and high fibre content. Some sources say it has twice the protein and fibre as brown rice. Our spelt is high in vitamins and minerals, as we care for the land and the soil in which it grows.

Having less starch and gluten than wheat, spelt is a little more difficult to work with, but as with anything, practice makes better!

Our spelt is organically grown on our own community farms, by people who care about how they grow and process their foods. We eat what we grow, and we are happy to share the abundance with you! Taste and see!
